This week we’ve been working hard on the installation of a cantilever gate in Hale. We needed to dig a pretty big hole before we started for the block of concrete needed to balance the gate out, as despite cantilever gates being sliding, they do not have a track. Scott, one of our lads, got down and dirty digging a decent hole for the concrete and so we could crack on with the job.
The advantage of having no track on a cantilever gate is that there is no chance of stones, dirt or any other debris becoming lodged in the mechanism. It’s also a plus point because there isn’t any wear and tear on the track from cars and other vehicles rolling over it. Cantilever gates can also be installed on uneven ground making them great for tricky rural areas.
This particular cantilever gate we’re working on is for a domestic customer and is constructed from galvanized and painted steel. The purpose of the gate is two-fold; the customer wanted extra security for their property which is a must these days and they also wanted the gate to look good, adding almost a finishing touch to the look of their home. The gate will be finished by Friday which is a great end to the week!
