Here at Cheshire Metalcraft, we like to think that we hit as many target markets as possible. That is why our selection of gates includes commercial gates. These can be used on industrial buildings, properties and even schools. Here are the guidelines that must be followed when it comes to gates on the exterior of schools…
- The gates must be made of steel, iron or timber at a height between 1.2m and 1.6m.
- All fixings that are used must either be welded, galvanised or stainless steel/iron to match the gate.
- Any panels should be vertically orientated so that children or intruders cannot use them as step-up points to gain access to the school or exit the school.
- Any pedestrian gates should be designed with a frame that can use galvanised hinges and fixes behind the attack face.
- Outward opening gates where these hinges/braces are mounted on the attack face should be made from what is known as a ‘blind’ coach bolt style.
- Locks should be fitted to any pedestrian gates and they must match the style of the gate itself.
- Vehicular gates should open inwards and be made from a framed material with adjustable hinges. In addition to this, they should be fitted with bolts to allow padlocking and they should match the fencing.
Our commercial gates are perfect for school and many other industrial areas which is why we take pride in knowing the guidelines required. Get in contact with the best gates Manchester has to offer today and get your hands on our commercial gates!
