The weather lately has been insane. Tornado, anyone? Trees being uprooted, roof slates being ripped off… it’s enough to make you want to hibernate for the long haul. If you have electric gates though, now is the prime time to be maintaining them. All sorts of twigs, leaves and other random bits of debris get blown around this time of year, and so it’s important to keep your electric gates in pristine condition to ensure maximum safety and security.
First of all do a visual inspection. Check that nothing has become lodged in the path of the gates as they open and close, and that they gates themselves can move freely without being caught on anything. Sweep leaves and any other winter build up away from your gates and the area surrounding them, giving a clear path for the gates to operate as intended. Check also for any signs of wear and tear thanks to the elements, anything bashed by a flailing branch for example.
Open and close your electric gate a few times, especially if the temperature has been below freezing. This should alert you to any frozen or stuck mechanisms, and if there aren’t any, it makes sure that the mechanism stays moving freely in the cold temperatures.
Give the control panel the once over too. Wipe away any dirt and debris with a cloth and make sure all the buttons sill press in correctly, and everything does as it is meant to.
Make sure that you keep an ear out for any squeaking that is new, or excessive noise that you don’t normally hear during operation of your gates. If you have any concerns get in touch with us as soon as possible and we will do our best to help you. Your safety is paramount here at Cheshire Metalcraft and when it comes to gates in Manchester especially we don’t like to leave our customers unsure.
